The Power and Vulnerability of Our Voice
My voice has always held power.
And it has always been one of the most vulnerable parts of me to share.
Even hearing it loud. Taking up space with it. Exploring more of its expression.
I found my voice a while ago. What is unfolding now is a willingness to be more vulnerable with it. To share more of who I am and become curious about expressions I haven’t fully explored.
The power that has always been there
For a long time, I didn’t like the sound of my own voice. Others would comment on the beauty of its frequency, and I couldn’t hear what they heard.
I buried so much of its expression behind who I felt I needed to be.
There was a proving in that. Trying to find the words, the tone, the way of expressing myself that would be received. I can see how much attention I gave to being understood, and how easily that attention could carry me away from what I wanted to say.
I could speak and still keep parts of myself quiet.
Now I’m becoming curious about what else wants to come forward. My voice has more to express, and I’m choosing to explore that.
Exploring my voice more deeply
In Human Design, I’m a Self Projected Projector. My voice is how I’m guided to hear my own truth and recognize my direction. I think of it as my superpower.
I recently began working with my voice, following guidance that came through my medicine practice and the wisdom I’ve found there. I’ve just begun working with a vocal mentor and coach to explore this more deeply.
This has been sooo uncomfortable. And I’m excited to discover what opens through it.
Our voices carry frequency 💫 Sound and vibration that can be felt before the words are understood. There is something deeply vulnerable about sharing that expression of ourselves.
Using my voice opens a channel and a space within that I cannot explain. The power and the vulnerability arrive together.
I’m curious about what opens in our bodies, and in our worlds, as our voices come forward. What happens to our breath? Where do we feel the vibration? What do we notice as we give our sound more room?
And this reaches into everyday life. Naming what we want. Speaking a boundary. Sharing an idea while it’s still taking shape. Our words become part of our relationships and choices.
We get to discover what happens when more of who we are enters the conversation.
What my dreams brought into awareness
As I began diving deeper into my voice, my dreams began mirroring experiences where it had been shut down. They brought awareness to the places where I had disconnected from my own expression along the way.
The awareness alone was all I needed. Simply seeing those experiences through my dreams was enough for something to begin unfolding.
That is something I value deeply in my relationship with dreams. What comes forward at night can bring a new understanding into the day.
My voice work and my dreamwork are meeting each other here.
Amanita and other medicines have been part of this personal unfolding. Within those relationships, I’ve received guidance to explore my voice more deeply. Following that guidance has meant taking a concrete step: finding support and beginning to practice.
The practice is where I meet myself.
Speaking Light Language. Sharing an intuitive hit. Sharing about my experiences with channeling and intuitive knowing. Speaking in public. Writing something personal and sharing it.
Each is an expression of something real within me. Each offers an opportunity to trust what I’m sharing and remain curious about how it unfolds.
Giving more of ourselves a voice
Even writing this, I notice moments of judging myself. I can pause, hear what I’m trying to express, and choose words that feel true to me.
That choice matters.
I’m remembering my right to speak. To choose my words. To share my experiences. Being free to express who we are, in a voice that is our own, is a human right.
People may see things differently. They may not understand every part of my experience. I can listen, stay open, and remain close to what feels true within me.
My voice is becoming alive and online in new ways.
Some days that feels exciting. Some days I feel exposed. Through it all, I feel a desire to share more of who I am behind the cloth. The real me, judged or not.
There is strength in bringing that much of ourselves into our lives. In speaking with honesty, following our curiosity, and giving expression to what matters.
I’m still unfolding in all of this.
I’ve only just begun this journey with my voice mentor. I’m allowing it all to unfold with few expectations, and I’m excited to see what is birthed through it.
I’m sure I’ll have much more to share. So stay tuned.
What part of your expression feels ready to come forward?
With love,
Lynda
